Science Safety and Tools

This morning Jenna shared her "me bag"!
Today in science we learned about lab safety and the tools we will be using this year. We rotated stations and observed some of the tools.
We looked up at the board to match it with it's name. Then we wrote it down in our science journal and said what it is used for.
In math today we worked more with arrays. We learned that if we have an array that is too big for us to know off the top of our head, we could break it into smaller arrays. For example, instead of seeing this array as 4 x 7, I could break it into two 2 x 7 groups.

We then cut out cards with different arrays on them with our partner.

We played a game of trying to solve the array by breaking it into smaller arrays!
At the end of the game, we took the array that was the hardest for us to solve. We put it in our math journal and drew different arrays inside of it to help us visualize what we could do in our heads!

  1. Look at those babies hard at work! This is so great :) it is fun to see who the kids work with during the day - I usually just hear about recess and lunch!
